You'll never find your ball in all those square miles of waving green marsh grass, but the ocean air and uplifting views will probably keep you from caring too much. Play a Jack Nicklaus course in the morning and a Pete Dye course in the afternoon. Access Hilton Head's miles of beaches, or just drive the boat right up to the docks at Colleton and tie it off for a cocktail break.

Densities are close to a home every two acres, so there is plenty of room for bike trails or a stroll through the enormous oaks in one of the country's nicest climates.
